From 15 to 17 December 2026, Alexandria will host the 4th edition of the Mediterranean MPA Forum. For this edition, the format is changing: a more intimate event, held entirely in person, bringing together around 150 participants for a genuine collaborative working experience. As participation is subject to approval, applications must be submitted by 23 October 2026!
From 15 to 17 December 2026, the 4th Mediterranean MPA Forum will take place in Alexandria, Egypt.
For this edition, the Forum will be held entirely in person. It will welcome around 150 participants.
Why this choice? To provide a genuine opportunity for collective work, with plenty of time for exchange and discussion in small groups. The aim: to take the time to analyse the progress made and the challenges facing MPAs in the Mediterranean, to foster strategic dialogue, to share experiences, and to work together to map out the next steps towards 2030, focusing on these four key themes:
- Inclusive and equitable governance
- Speeding up progress towards regional and international targets
- Effective conservation measures
- Ecosystem resilience
The Forum aims to define, through a participatory process, a call to action setting out key measures for MPAs to accelerate the implementation of commitments to the regional 2030 goals in the Mediterranean.
This change to the format means that, this year, participation will be subject to approval by the organisers (MedPAN and the SPA/RAC).
We therefore invite anyone wishing to take part in the Forum to submit their application by 23 October 2026.
As places are limited, not all applications will be approved. The organisers will review the applications once the submission period has closed and will then contact each applicant to confirm their participation. Applications for financial support, where required, will be considered at a later stage.
